The beautiful Caballos Del Mar in Encinitas was the setting for a day of learning and camaraderie as Olympic Bronze Medalist Christine Traurig headlined a dressage clinic to benefit Friends of Lisa.  Ten lucky dressage riders (Doreen Cropp, Kate Shuster, Kelsea Nataren, Birthe Laufer, Sarah Lockman, Jenifer Luce-Zakhary, Jan Dickieson, Mia Slaughter, Marie Medosi, and Gina Trup) had the benefit of Christine’s laser-like focus.  She tailored each lesson to bring out the best in both horse and rider and the results were stunning.

Auditors were treated to Christine’s wit and humor as she explained the elements of the classical training scale in relation to each horse’s progress.  Riders and auditors alike came away from the event with new tools in their dressage toolbox.

We can’t thank Christine enough for her generosity in donating an entire day of her valuable time to benefit our friend Lisa – what an act of love!  The event was coordinated by Birthe Laufer, dressage trainer at Caballos Del Mar, and the facility was generously donated by Julie and Dominic Burtech.  Participants were treated to a buffet lunch donated by Kate Shuster, and a catered Mexican dinner was sponsored by farrier Ernest Woodward.  Wine and margaritas completed the festive party and were provided by Birthe Laufer.

Boutique shopping was brought to the event by Barbara Biernat of Horse and Rider, who is donating a portion of her proceeds to the cause.  Raffle items were generously donated by Mary’s Tack & Feed, Carter’s Hay & Grain, Darlene Woodend, San Dieguito Equine Group, Birthe Laufer, and Ranch & Coast Equine.  Sheryl Ross donated a day of photography and all purchases of photographs will go to Friends of Lisa.  Errol Richards and Paul Richards did an amazing job with the sound system and videography of the riders.

The entire day was a blast and we were so happy that Lisa was able to join us and benefit from all the positive energy!  The event raised over $6,000 to help Lisa in her cancer battle.  Thanks to all who participated!
